Ivory Stone

David Fischer With the two contributions on this split, the already way too good Icelandic black metal scene has grown wildly more dangerous. While I prefer Hof for its sheer brutality and wildfire-like character, Sinmara's offering serves as the more melodic counterpart, preventing this release from becoming the musical equivalent of chlorine trifluoride and burning this world to cinders. This is still heavy and breakneck black metal, so do not expect to get through this without burning or hurting yourself.

Richard Terry This is a powerful song. The Split EP (with Misþyrming) is extremely good and worth checking out. Despite only two songs total, it’s one of my favorite EP’s. Ivory Stone is another great song from Sinmara

lyrics

Surging fires, Permeate mortal flesh
Reborn through the cervix of the earth
to become one with the soil

Below a waning moon
awaiting malicious dawn
Black desolate sands
Malevolent, all consuming

Blood and fire
Blood and fire
Charnel tower

Blood and fire
Death devour
Plague empire

Disharmonious Howls
Cacophonous swarm
At the stench of demise
Scavengers flock to eclipse a despondent Sun

Poisonous Corporeal ruins
Embrace a multitude of vermilion eyes

Stale caliginous waters
Give birth to a silent Titan
A beckoning idol to the swarm

Severed limbs and broken bones
anoint the crown of ivory stone

Tainted Carrion
yearn for their liberation
Bringers of absolution
Majestic vultures
Dance within harrowing winds
Set their sight to the heart of the moon
To leave this putrescent world
To rot and burn
